Just Breathe.

“Breathe in, breathe out.”

If you are like me and most people today, you have a problem breathing. Yes, I said breathing. It’s so ironic that the very thing our bodies were meant to do with little or no assistance from anyone, but God, is something we often do incorrectly.

Most of us hold our breath when we feel stressed or anxious, and if you are woman it is even more probable, because we were often told to pull and hold in our abdomens so we could appear thinner. Yes, things have changed since the corsets of old, but not all that much.

I learned how to breathe correctly in a singing class and then again in a yoga class. It went against every fiber of my being to breathe correctly from the diaphragm, but when I did the world as I knew it began to change.

When you breathe like no one is looking at your baby pouch or muffin top, you feel rejuvenated! When our lungs fill completely, and our stomach expands, then our body and mind begin to relax and we are able to realize just how stressed we have really been. Take time today to breathe in and breathe out. Breathe in, breath out. Breathe in….breathe out. Now, don’t you feel better already?
